Quint-Essential back after one-year hiatus

The joyous sounds of young voices will fill the Orangeville Town Hall Opera House when Singing Sun 2 takes the stage tonight (Friday). MDPI proudly presents Mark Du Bois and the Studio Singers in a lively concert that features songs ranging from Broadway to Opera to Gospel to Jazz and back again! The concert, starting at 7:30 p.m., will feature a special guest appearance by The Hockley Valley Children’s Choir. Seating is very limited, so please call the Theatre Orangeville Box office at 519-942-3423.
Don’t miss Outside The Lines, the Westside Secondary Senior Art Show, tonight at the Train Station Restaurant. This show features works by some of the most exciting young visual artists in our community. This is a great opportunity to see the world through the eyes of young people of this town. The show takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
Auditions for the Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (TOYS) will be held at Covenant Alliance Church, 3 Zina St., Orangeville on Tuesday (June 24) and Wednesday. The choirs will have performance opportunities in 2008/09 in Theatre Orangeville’s production of A Christmas Carol, the TOYS Spring Show at the Opera House, as well as other local events. Please prepare a song to sing a cappella. Children aged eight and up with unchanged voices will be auditioned to form the three choirs. Please call 519-942-3423 to book an audition time.
Quint-Essential is back! After a year hiatus the area’s premier show of fine and functional art is about to open. “Quint” members Kathryn Thomson (glass), Brenda Roy (jewelry), Linda Jenetti (painting), Rosemary Molesworth (pottery) and Pat Burns–Wendland (weaving) have already spent the first half of this year participating and winning awards in a number of juried and individual shows. Come and delight in the “Quint-Essential 2008” show and sale of new works at the beautiful Mono Community Centre. The show opens tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. with gala starting at 7:30 pm. Enjoy Celtic harpist Loril Shannik, refreshments and a draw for original artwork. Photographer Ila Sisson has scheduled a photo exhibit of her work in Orangeville this June. The exhibition of Ila’s work will be held at Yoga in the Hills Studio located at 28 Mill Street. Join Ila on Saturday, June 28 from noon to 4 p.m. or for the reception that night from 6 to 9 p.m. The show continues on Sunday, June 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. A portion of all sales will be donated to Choices Youth Shelter.
