All of us at Theatre Orangeville were extremely proud and honoured to receive recognition at the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 Business Excellence Awards. Awards went to 14 Dufferin County companies or individuals that contribute greatly to our community. Theatre Orangeville received the Community Service and/or Not for Profit Excellence Award for 2008. There was a tie in that category and we were thrilled to share the stage with such a wonderful and worthwhile organization as Choices Youth Shelter. Bravo to all the nominees, everyone was a winner!

With the announcement of our exciting 2008-2009 season comes Theatre Orangeville’s subscription drive, which offers a great way to save money on your theatre tickets. You can see all five fantastic shows next season for as low as $100, and in buying a subscription before June 30, theatregoers have the opportunity to win a spectacular spa package courtesy of Aria Day Spa. The winner will enjoy manicures, pedicures, facials, massages and more — for six people.  To subscribe to the finest fully professional theatre in our area, call the Theatre Orangeville box office at 519-942-3423 or 800-424-1295.

Please plan on joining me at the Theatre Orangeville garage sale on May 24 starting at 8 a.m. in Alexandra Park, located directly behind the Town Hall Opera House. If you are interested in donating items, please e-mail us at tickets@theatreorangeville.ca. All proceeds will go to support the Theatre Orangeville youth programs!

Congratulations to all the mega-talented young people who starred in the Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (TOYS) production of Happy Days Are Here Again last weekend. The show, directed by Joy Bell and Joan Borden and choreographed by Jenee Gowing, Aimee Lococo and Pamela Scott, was sensational! Tom Smith, Matthew Shawn Fleming and Sarah Dale proved to be the hottest band this side of heaven. But as usual, the stars of the show were the dedicated and talented members of the TOYS choirs!

Does your arts organization have an event coming up in the near future? Event information can be dropped off in person at the Theatre Orangeville box office located at 87 Broadway or emailed to me at dnairn@theatre-orangeville.ca.
