Canada Day is wonderful reminder of all that we, as Canadians, should be proud of. Our little/big country — little in population, big in size — has a lot to celebrate in its 141 years of confederation.
July 1 is a day where we can assemble, as a community, at local parks, service clubs, families’ and neighbours’ yards to pay homage to our country and its heritage.
In Canada, we have much to celebrate. In our borders, we have a rich diversity of culture and we are revered for our multiculturalism and our ability to embrace customs, traditions and backgrounds different from our own.
We can also celebrate everything we share in common, such as our heritage. Canada has a fascinating story to tell, with 141 years of confederation, it’s important to pass that down to our children, their children and newcomers to this great nation.
We are a country full of people striving to make our nation great — the best place in the world to live — and despite our personal beliefs and differences, we’re working together to make that happen.
We hope you’ll take this July 1 as an opportunity to reflect on what it means to live in Canada, and share your thoughts with your friends, family and neighbours.
Maybe you’ll wear red and white to mark the occasion, or bake cupcakes that bear our flag to mark the occasion — but whatever you do, do it with pride because that’s part of what makes Canadians so… well… Canadian. After all, we’re an awfully patriotic bunch, eh?
