Drivers trump pedestrians
Dear Editor,
Writing about how unwilling people are to help others clear their snow, Mike Leney (letter to the editor, April 15) notes that a nearby apartment building quickly plowed its parking lot, and then distributed the mess “over the entrance to the sidewalks” forcing pedestrians to walk on the road. In Toronto it is astonishing how rapidly the roads get plowed and the sidewalks get neglected. Walkers pay as many taxes as drivers and should get the same speedy services. Maybe if the roads were left unplowed a little longer, even in Orangeville, people would drive a little more slowly and carefully. Fewer crashes, fewer injuries and deaths — everyone wins.
